Barnes & Noble CEO Resigns, Spokeswoman Says No Immediate Plans to Replace Him

Barnes and Noble, booksellers since 1873 - peoplewhowriteWilliam Lynch, CEO for Barnes and Noble since 2009, has left his post on the heels of earnings reports that showed a $177 million loss in the Nook unit, “more than doubling the loss from the period a year earlier,” the New York Times reports.  Barnes and Noble is reportedly looking to separate and sell off the Nook division and its bookstores, with Microsoft among the prospective Nook buyers. Company spokeswoman Mary Ellen Keating said “Because the company is in a transition period, we have no immediate plans to name a CEO.”
