Buzfeed has created a matrix identifying 27 of the “Broiest” reads ever written. (By bro, they mean an “overconfident dude”.) On the list: The Playbook: Suit Up. Score Chicks. Be Awesome. by Barney Stinson, which falls at the low-brow edge of “broier than cologne-flavored muscle milk”, by the way; and the high brow and “mildly bro” Long, Last, Happy by Barry Hannah. There’s also classic man fare like On the Road by Jack Kerouac and J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of Rings. “Not reading at all” and “Not reading any women authors” also made the list.
I have to say I’m surprised not to see E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey on the list. Among the 35 million copies sold, there have to be a few bros that went hard for a copy.
