Francesca Segal Wins Highest Monetary Award Given to Writers

Francesca Segal won the $100,000 Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature in 2013 for her debut novel, The Innocents - peoplewhowrite

Francesca Segal & Ben Lerner awarded $100K and $25K, respectively by Jewish Book Council

On Aril 9, 2013, The Innocents author Francesca Segal was awarded the $100,000 Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature. It’s the largest financial award of its kind given to writers, according to the Jewish Book Council which gives out the prize. Ben Lerner earned the $25,000 runner-up award for his book Leaving the Atocha Station. The Innocents, Segal’s first book, also made the longlist for the Women’s Prize for Fiction.
