Penguin acquired ASI in July 2012

Penguin Books India has announced a venture with self-publisher Author Solutions, Inc., or ASI, to extend self-publishing tools to Indian writers. According to Andrew Phillips, president and CEO of Penguin India, the south Asian nation may be the first in a global move. “Since Author Solutions joined the Penguin family, we have been focused on their international expansion,” Phillips reportedly said of the self-publisher Penguin acquired last July for $116 million. Phillips added, “I hope the new platform will substantially increase the number of authors in India.”
