The Best Books of 2012 lists look very different from Nielsen’s recently released list of 2012′s Bestselling Books. It’s no surprise E.L. James’ Fifty Shades trilogy dominates the sales list — the book did so well, Random House gave each of its employees a $5000 bonus — but one novel has achieved critical praise and blockbuster sales: Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl. Also impressive is the performance of J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy. Rowling’s book came out in September; and in just two months, it’s landed at 6th on the sales list.
